India-Taiwan SME Cooperation Forum explores cooperation in the food processing sector

On 7th September 2023 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, the National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) – a Government of India Enterprise – organised the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise approved 2nd Meeting of India-Taiwan SME Cooperation Forum.

The programme was held with the objective of exploring cooperation areas in the food processing sector among the two countries and facilitate business linkages in terms of technology transfers, joint ventures, contract manufacturing tie-ups and other business opportunities in the food processing sector among MSMEs in India and Taiwan.

The meeting started with the address by senior officials of Ministries of India and Taiwan – Mercy Epao, Jt. Secretary (SME), MoMSME and Chin Tsang Ho, Director General, SMEA, MOEA, Taiwan and other dignitaries emphasising on cooperation opportunities and framing ease to do business policies. Panel discussions were held on cluster and SME cooperation in the food processing sector between India and Taiwan apart from presentations by the Taiwanese enterprises and one-to-one Business (B2B) meetings between enterprises of India and Taiwan, based on their areas of interest.

A delegation from Taiwan comprising enterprises belonging to food technology, biotechnology, processed foods, wellness/health food, dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, organic food, agri-tech, logistics, etc., were present in the above programme and had B2B discussions with Indian MSMEs.

The India–Taiwan SME Cooperation Forum 2023 was organised in conjunction with ANUTEC – International Food Tec India 2023, scheduled at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India, from 7-9 September 2023, and the Taiwanese delegation have visited to this international exhibition as well.

During the conclusion of the conference, the delegation officials from Taiwan expressed their satisfaction of having very good discussions with the Ministry of MSME and got an opportunity to directly interact with Indian MSMEs, which would benefit both countries in future.
