Chef Bühner, widely recognized as the German face of gastronomy, brings his exceptional culinary brilliance from his time at the former three Michelin-starred restaurant La Vie.

About Chef Thomas Bühner
Chef Thomas Bühner embarked on his culinary journey at Schweizer Haus in Paderborn, where he received training. He further honed his skills under the guidance of Günter Scherrer at Düsseldorf Hilton and expanded his experience at renowned establishments such as Landhaus Scherrer in Hamburg, Grand Cru Restaurant in Lippstadt, Restaurant Jörg Müller, and Harald Wohlfahrt’s Schwarzwaldstube. During this time, he developed a deep appreciation for discipline and drew inspiration from Wohlfahrt’s down-to-earth demeanour and compassion towards his team. In 1991, Bühner acquired the role of Chef at La Table Restaurant in Dortmund, earning his first Michelin star after five years, followed by a second in 1998. His exceptional talent and dedication were recognized with the prestigious Gault Millau “Rising Star of the Year” award in 2001. From 2006 to 2018, he held the title of “Chef of the Year” while successfully managing the renowned restaurant La Vie in Osnabrueck. With his exceptional skills and craftsmanship, he achieved the rare distinction of three Michelin stars, an honour held by only ten master chefs in Germany. Following his time at La Vie, Chef Bühner ventured into consultancy work for various restaurants and hotels worldwide. He also shared his expertise as a keynote speaker and delighted diners as a guest chef. In April 2023, he made a remarkable comeback by reopening “La vie by Thomas Bühner” in Taiwan, embarking on an exciting new chapter in his culinary career.
